Serve Our Community and World

Renton First United Methodist has a stong history of community involvement and service within the Renton city limits.  Listed below are some of the areas we continue to serve as well as others we have served in the past and would serve again.  If you have an interest in serving your local community, this is the place for you.  COME, CONNECT and SERVE with us.

United Methodist Men (UMM)
        Purpose:  UMM meet monthly and provides the men of the church an opportunity forChristian fellowship, and
                        service to the church and the community.  In addition we sponsor youth programs.  We are the
                        charter organization for a Boy Scout troop and a Cub Scout pack.   We are also members of the
                        National Organization of United Methodist Men.  
        Meeting time:  3rd Tuesday of month, 6-8pm in the church lower level.

United Methodist Women (UMW)
        Purpose:  The UMW is an active group of women in the church who work together to provide programs of
                         interest to women in the community.  They intentionally support mission projects specific to
                         "Women helping Women" locally and globally.  They emphasize Christian values as they:
                          - Make Christmas Stockings for Atlantic Street Service Center
                          - Crochet hats for Head Start Children
                          - Knit prayer shawls for those in need of comfort
                          - Provide temporary housing for the Center Of Hope women's shelter
                          - Provide temporary housing for the men of ARISE
                          - Plan the annual Christmas Buffet for church
                          - Supporting other needs of many church and local programs
                         New members are always welcome to join this supportive community of women.

Missions Committee (Work Area)

      Purpose: This committee seeks and promotes short-and long term remedies to justice and mercy issues like

                     hunger and homelessness in the community and around the world.  With a dedicated budget, this

                     committee requires 2 hours per month for meeting with additonal time for promotion and partcipation

                     in actual service to others. 

      Meeting time:  Meets last Sunday of the month after church in the Library/Conference Room 110
